The Maine Event: Blog Of Thanks

What up everybody? The Maine Event in the building. I'm back hitting you with the 2nd blog. The blog is simply entitled thanks. Yes it is an ode to you, football. Whether you're a hardcore, die-hard, casual or just a t-shirt fan. Fair weather, or any weather, the paint your bald spot or paint your entire body fan. If youre the fans who spell out your teams mascot or battle cry. You wearing your Sunday best in the Grove or Sailgating in Montlake, running in the Baylor Line or waving your towels to SandStorm. To the fans, Thanks. To the bands, cheerleaders, students, and parents. You bring the biggest energy and are our loudest supporters. What the players do is because of you, we do what we do to make you proud. Keep up good work and keep coming up with the great themes and chants. Thank you guys. To the coaches, whether you coach the smallest or youngest on the rec field, or the biggest and baddest on the high school and college fields. Molding our young men and sometimes women into being leaders and future doctors, lawyers and politicians. Being fathers to those who have no fathers and making them family. I salute you and thank you. To the coach's wives and significant others. Thank you for being the biggest cheerleader, the best mother, support and most importantly best friend. You are the lifeblood and the defender of the homestead in the fall. We love you and thank you. I love this time of year. The smell of freshly cut grass, newly painted fields. Brand new fieldturf and those pellets of wood and rubber. Towns closing down and tailgaters tailgating and before the game the band getting you ready, sounds of sirens and foghorns, cowbells, cannons and milk jugs with change in them. Clean new jerseys and that familiar music welcoming your team. Going to the concession stands, seeing your favorite teacher of yesteryear and catching a whiff of spicy nachos, hearing the hamburgers sizzling, popcorn popping with hot dogs boiling. Did i mention the pizza smell and the boiled peanuts, LAWWWDD!!!! I love this time of the year.
